Acrylic Painting Basics

This workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to painting with acrylics in a supportive, beginner-friendly setting. Participants will explore key concepts such as the differences between acrylic and oil paints, color mixing, the use of additives, and selecting and working with a variety of brushes. The class will also cover brushstroke techniques to create different effects, basic composition, and methods for transferring images onto canvas. With guidance from the instructor, students will apply these skills to create at least one finished acrylic painting, building both confidence and a strong foundation in the medium.

There will be a 1 hour break for lunch at 12 pm. Students are responsible for providing their own lunch.

This workshop is open to all skill levels. and recommended for people ages 18+.

About Robert:

Robert Waldo Brunelle is a painter, kinetic sculptor, book illustrator, art educator and political cartoonist. He was the art teacher at the Browns River Middle School from 1981 to 2012. He served as the president of the Northern Vermont Artist Association from 1995 to 2012 and now serves as the NVAA’s Vice President. He has been exhibiting his paintings in the region since 1978. He is a founding member of the Vermont Comic Creator’s Group, and his cartoon strip, Mr. Brunelle Explains It All, appears in Funny Times and The Bridge Weekly.
